February 14, 2019 - 'Black day for India'

Forty CRPF personnel were killed on February 14, 2019, when their convoy was attacked by a suicide bomber on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in J&K’s Pulwama district. It was said to be the worst-ever terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since militancy erupted in 1989.

The Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) had claimed responsibility for the attack and had also released a video clip of the suicide bomber.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had led the nation in condemning the attack.

"The attack ... is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs," he had tweeted.

Leaders cutting across all political parties, eminent personalities belonging to various fields such as entertainment and sports, had too condemned the horrific attack, which had left the entire country stunned.

In one of the posts on Twitter, India's tennis star Sania Mirza had called it a "black day for India".

"I play for my country, sweat for it and that's how I serve my country. I stand with the CRPF jawaans and their families, my heart goes out to them and they are our true heroes who protect our country.. 14th February was a black day for India and I hope we never have to see another day like this, no amount of condolences can make any of this better.. this day will not be forgotten and neither shall it be forgiven...," Mirza had said.

On February 26, 2019, the Indian Air Force fighter jets had dropped bombs and destroyed a training camp of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed in Pakistan's Balakot
